Week #19 | The Highlights
Today is a beautiful Mother’s Day! It feels like Summer, I spent the afternoon with my grandma and have Greek food on the stove ready to be devoured in the afternoon sun. Can life feel like this every day, please?
Life
Happy, happy days, because I got the news that there may be an apartment opening up for me in September! I’ve been living with my parents since COVID and even though I love them to death, I am dying to get my own place. It feels near impossible in the current economy, but an old acquaintance came through! OEH I’m so excited! I’m seeing the space on Tuesday and am already trying to mentally furnish the entire place lol.
When I’m pressing publish on this Weekly Recap, I’ve started on a week of freedom. That’s to say, I booked myself a weeklong holiday back in January and it’s finally come around. I’ve got some plans but mainly, I just want to relax and read my book in the garden while snacking on something sweet.
Health
I’m starting to feel like myself again!
Now, that sounds really intense, but I feel like while I was struggling with my scalp issues and had eczema all over my body, I kind of lost touch with myself. Now, the issues on my scalp aren’t completely solved, but it’s really looking up from here on out, so my confidence is coming back. And the eczema is clearing up now that the weather is taking a turn towards the summer, so I’m a happy chappy!
Reading
The Book That Wouldn’t Burn by Mark Lawrence
Yeah, progress on this one has been slow. I always find you need to take your time for reading high fantasy, since you need full brain power to keep up with the storylines, and the brainpower has been low this week…
The Pick Up by Hannah Doyle ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
You read that right, I finished a book! Technically I finished this book exactly on its publication date, so I genuinely think I timed that perfectly lol. This romcom book was adorable and I loved pretty much every second!
I did share a rambly review, so you know where to find that!Class by Jenny Colgan
I’m a reviewer for the Dutch book platform Hebban and I received a copy of the recently translated Class. I quite enjoy reading Jenny Colgan, but this is some of her earliest work, so I’m a little worried I may not like this as much as I’m hoping…
Movies/series
Bob’s Burgers S11 & S12
Criminal Minds S7
The Big Bang Theory S10-S1
The Lost City (a TRUE guilty pleasure and one I will rewatch until the end of days)
Honorable mentions
I’ve been listening to Dua Lipa’s newest album, Radical Optimism, on repeat lately. It’s such an upbeat list of tracks I’m almost skipping into work most days.
I did some online shopping… oop! I ordered a fleece I’d been eyeing for two months (seriously, when do you bite the bullet!), some scarves I can wear in my hair and a summer dress. I’ve also been trying to dress out of my comfort zone and it’s making me see my closet in a whole new light! I tried a midi skirt with a high slit and it made me feel so confident. It’s insane!
